BIOGRAFI:
Daniel Nielsen is a Danish-American composer and musician with over 40 years professional experience exploring virtually every medium for musical expression.

Born in Los Angeles, Daniel began his professional music career as a jazz pianist while still a teenager, performing with jazz legends and mentors Albert Tootie Heath, Dizzy Gillespie, and Charlie Haden. He began developing his composing skills as arranger for the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis and the Mingus Big Band in New York.

Daniel’s career composing for film and television began as staff composer in the music department at Walt Disney Studios contributing as composer, orchestrator and musician on 40+ television and film projects. During this time Daniel developed his skill in the craft of musical scoring and film composition working closely with many veteran Hollywood composers including John Williams, John Barry and James Horner. While under the mentorship of famed composer Jerry Goldsmith, Daniel found his unique voice as an artist.

While working as in-house composer for the highly successful Los Angeles based advertising agency The Ant Farm, Daniel has scored several hundred feature film trailers helping to pioneer and shape the “Epic” sound of modern movie trailers. Daniel’s original scoring work can be heard on many of Hollywood’s biggest franchises over the past several decades including Lord Of The Rings, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean to name a few.

Daniel holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in music composition from California Institute of the Arts. Daniel also served as musical archivist for the Smithsonian Institute and the Library of Congress in Washington DC USA, in the preservation and restoration of historic American jazz collections, including those of Duke Ellington and Charles Mingus and further conducting field recordings for the documentation of the oral histories of essential American musical artists and performers.
